Any idea what this is?  This object was found in a former battlefield, and the farmer himself had no idea what it was, and had never seen anything like it. The material is rusted metal, and about 1 1/4’ tall.

Three close ridges indicate it could be screwed into something.

I have had one suggestion that this is the top of a flask of some sort.
